We used fried tofu instead of fish. Delicious!
Well, I’ve been fighting this cold for a few days now (hence the lack of posts) and I’m finally feeling better today!
After visiting at UCSD, we hosted Dominick’s hometown friend, Thomas, while he was interviewing at Boston College. We both had a sore throat and generally icky feeling, so I made some ginger soothers. Thomas had never had one, and I realized this might be a family recipe. Wow!
So here’s the recipe for a ginger soother:
All the measurements are pretty arbitrary (e.g., you can use more honey or less lemon) so make it how you like it. I usually make a big thermos of it in the morning, and sip all day. Ginger is great for nausea, so this is extra helpful if you have the flu. If you have a sore throat, add extra salt and gargle with this mixture, once it’s cooled off a bit. This gets to those hard-to-reach spots and eliminates the icky bacteria.
